Molecular Pathology

Our take on Molecular Pathology

We know that cancer, like everything else in our body, is controlled by certain genes or DNA.
Some genes are considered the “gas” genes or the “go” genes that tell a cell to divide and reproduce. We also have other “brake” genes to ensure that a cell is playing by the rules.

We use the latest state-of-the-art tissue preparation technology that delivers larger, higher-quality samples that increase cancer detection.

Our ability to prepare, analyze, and navigate the proper tissue to the correct molecular pathology test is what makes TruCore unique.

Our team of board-certified anatomic, clinical and cytopathologists are trained molecular specialists with a dedicated genitourinary focus

How we are changing pathology

In the past, all a pathologist could do was to subjectively look at a cell under a microscope and decide:

  • Is it cancer?
  • How bad does it physically look on the slide?
Current processes are basically a subjective, 2 dimension analysis. New advancements in molecular pathology have now given us the tools to look at a cancer’s specific genes, which one(s) have been changed, and how that may effect how a cancer will behave. A non-subjective third dimension. In other words we’ve gone from 2D to 3D to see how much “Gas” and “Break” is going on within a cell to better gauge how aggressive an individuals cancer may actually be.
Our Team of board certified pathologists are expertly trained for general prostate, bladder and cytology analysis. That however, is typical for most quality labs. What elevates TrūCore is our ability to develop ‘practice specific’ molecular pathways, and properly analyze samples to navigate them to the proper test with the least amount of error. We are the experts in Molecular Pathology analysis, and our partner pathways include the use of:
  • Prolaris
  • Oncotype
  • PTEN/ERG by FISH
  • ProMark
  • Decipher (Both post RP and on biopsy)
  • Know Error
  • Urovysion
  • FGFR3 by FISH
  • ConfirmMDX
